NRL Round 16 Preview - Dragons v Eels @ WIN Stadium

St. George Illawarra Dragons v Parramatta Eels @ WIN Stadium

Preview - It's top against bottom of the NRL as the Dragons host the Eels at WIN Stadium on Thursday night. The Dragons retained their place on top of the table with a comprehensive 32-8 victory over Manly at WIN Stadium in Round 15, as they broke the shackles from some of their more recent unconvincing victories. The Eels were blown away by the Rabbitohs 42-24 after leading the game 14-6 early in the piece.

St. George Illawarra Dragons’ Scouting Report - Paul McGregor hinted he may look at resting some players, given the short turnaround from Origin. Jack de Belin has been named despite copping another knock to his hip, and Origin fellow back-rower Tyson Frizzel has been left out.

Parramatta Eels’ Scouting Report - The Eels welcome back Mitch Moses from a knee injury with Clint Gutherson moving back to fullback. Josh Hoffman is forced out of the side, with Beven French moving back to the wing. Marata Niukore will start in the back row with Manu Ma'u out injured.

Verdict - Dragons by 6-16

Hard to see anything other than a Dragons’ victory at home against a side playing for pride alone. The Eels have been a bit better over the past couple of weeks, however the Dragons are too profession and have too much quality to let this game act as a slip up. They are unbeaten at they traditional home grounds this season and, whist I see the Eels putting up a fight for 40-50 minutes, I can see the Dragons running away with the game in the final quarter.
