NFL Week 2- Thursday Night Football (Texans @ Bengals)

Houston Texans (0-1) @ Cincinnati Bengals (0-1) - Paul Brown Stadium

Preview - Both the Bengals and Texans will be looking to rebound from nightmare Week 1 performances when they lock horns in Cincinnati on Thursday Night Football. The Bengals will be looking to repay their fans for laying an egg at home last week against the Ravens in an embarrassing 20-0 loss. Quarterback Andy Dalton had a disastrous performance, throwing 4 interceptions, and will be looking to make amends tonight. The Texans endured a similarly embarrassing home defeat, with the Jaguars causing a big upset, routing the Texans 29-7. Coach Bill O'Brien has already made a big move changing his starting quarterback, replacing TJ Yates with rookie Deshaun Watson. Watson showed flashes of his potential in the second half against the Jaguars, however will be sorely tested against a good Bengals’ defence in his first game on the road.

Verdict - Bengals by 1-8 in a low scoring game

I see the defences getting on top here with both teams’ offences putting in horrendous performances in Week 1. Last season, when these teams clashed, it was a very low scoring struggle, with the Texans surviving 12-10 after the Bengals missed a Field Goal that would have won them the game. I just think, ultimately, the Bengals have the advantage being at home here and, with a rookie quarterback starting off the back of a short week, I think their defence can carry them to a narrow victory here.
