5 Quick Points (Tigers v Storm, Dragons v Warriors)

5 Quick Points (Tigers v Storm, Dragons v Warriors)

Wests Tigers 14 v Melbourne Storm 22 @ Leichhardt Oval

1. The Storm was as bad as they possibly could have been for 35 minutes in this game. Yet they still walked away with a pretty comprehensive victory.
2. The Tigers' fitness levels appear a big problem this year. That's three straight scoreless second halves.
3. The try right on half time was a huge turning point in this match. After David Moa Fatima's try that would have made it 20-0 was disallowed, it was effectively a 12-point turn around in just a few minutes.
4. Cooper Cronk hasn't been at his brilliant best to start this season. He has thrown some poor passes and even looked a yard off the pace in attack at times. I wonder if his mind is a bit elsewhere at the moment.
5. The Tigers' attack was pretty poor in this game. With all the hype about the halves and fullback, they are looking predictable and taking some poor options.

St George Illawarra Dragons 26 v 12 New Zealand Warriors @ Kogarah Oval

1. The Warriors' game plan might have been thrown out the window when Kieran Foran withdrew 5 minutes before kick off. I don't like making excuses for sides, but this was a body blow.
2. It will be a real test of Foran's focus should he be sidelined for a month with injury.
3. Gareth Widdop has really stepped up this year. Some might suggest it's because his contract is up. Whether that is the case or not, the Dragons are finally getting some value for money.
4. Paul Vaughn would be close to the signing of the year alongside Luke Keary. He has exceeded my expectations the way he is charging this Dragons' side down the paddock.
5. Isaac Luke appears a shadow of the player he was at Souths. His heart doesn't quite look in it at the Warriors. Michael Maguire might have known how to get the best out of him.
