NRL Round 21 Preview - Knights V Tigers @ McDonald Jones Stadium

Newcastle Knights v Wests Tigers @ McDonald Jones Stadium

Preview - Both the Knights and Tigers will be looking to rebound from disappointing losses when they clash at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night. The Knights produced an awful second half against the Cowboys, eventually conceding a last minute try to go down 22-18, despite shooting out to an early 12-0 lead and leading 20-6 at halftime. The Tigers put in one of their worst displays of the year at a crucial time, slipping to an insipid 16-4 loss to the Bulldogs, in game where they had nowhere near the intensity required for a side fighting for a finals’ position.

Newcastle Knights’ Scouting Report - The Knights get back Connor Watson who replaces Jack Cogger at five-eight. Cory Denniss replaces Nathan Ross at centre. JJ Felise makes his debut for the Knights against his old Club, with Herman Ese'ese starting at prop and Jacob Lillyman out.

Wests Tigers’ Scouting Report - Ivan Cleary has largely resisted swinging the axe with the only change being Robbie Rochow named to replace Chris Macqueen on the interchange bench.

Verdict - Knights by 1-6

The Knights have been good at home of late, so I will stick with them to get the win despite the Tigers having more to play for. The Knights really troubled the Tigers in the game earlier this year in Tamworth, with their outside backs getting quick play the balls out of dummy half and Pearce and Ponga playing off the back of that. Knights in a close one.
