NRL Round 23 Preview - Storm v Eels @ AAMI Park
Melbourne Storm v Parramatta Eels @ AAMI Park
Preview - The Melbourne will be looking to avoid three losses in a row, when they take on the last placed, but in form, Eels at AAMI Park on Friday night. The Storm once again fell to their nemesis the Sharks 17-14 in another off colour performance, in a game that saw their Minor Premiership chances plummet. The Eels could have been more impressive in demolishing the Dragons 40-4 at ANZ Stadium, as they won back-to-back games to keep their hopes alive of avoiding the Wooden Spoon.
Melbourne Storm Scouting Report - Ryan Hoffman is unlikely to be a chance to be back this season, unless the Storm make the Grand Final, after suffering a serious hamstring injury. Cheyse Blair replaces him on the bench.
Parramatta Eels’ Scouting Report - Veteran Eels’ captain Tim Mannah replaces Kane Evans in the front row, whilst Oregon Kaufusi is named to make his debut off the bench in place of Will Smith.
Verdict - Storm by 10-18
I would be shocked if the Storm coughed up this game even though Parramatta are probably more dangerous than their standing on the competition ladder suggests. The Eels are playing their best football of the year right now, and are still desperate to avoid the Wooden Spoon. However, the Storm have too much quality for them and, playing at home, I think they might have a big win here to remind everyone they’re still a serious player in the competition.
