Can Anyone Stop Aaron Rodgers In This Mood?

Packers Rout Giants As Rodgers Runs Riot

Look out Dallas Cowboys, Aaron Rodgers and his surging Green Bay Packers are coming to town next week. Rodgers in this mood can carry his  Packers into Texas next week with a swagger and confidence that only he can exude. When the Packers slumped to 4-6, many sniggered when Rodgers came out and said "I think we can run the table". Well, they did exactly that, winning their six regular season games to not only sneak into the playoffs, but steal the NFC North from under Detroit's noses. Maybe when Rodgers said his team would run the table, he meant the playoffs as well as the regular season. I'm certainly not betting against him after watching he and his team mates destroy the New York Giants 38-13 at Lambeau Field on Sunday. Rodgers was at his electrifying best, going 25 for 40 for 362 yards with 4 touchdowns to 0 interceptions.

The Giants, blessed with one of the best defences in the NFL, were no match for a freewheeling Rodgers. There is no Quarterback in the NFL that is a match for Rodgers at his best like he is right now, not even the great Tom Brady. Rodgers extended several plays using his speed and footwork, before delivering several strikes, including another Hail Mary touchdown which was like a dagger throw the hearts of the Giants right on halftime. Rodgers has his swagger back, and in this sort of mood can make nearly any sort of throw - off the back foot, side arm, Hail Mary's and more. Rodgers hasn't just helped his team win seven straight games, he is on one of the best streaks for Quarterbacks in NFL History and will head to Dallas full of confidence. During those seven wins, Rodgers is completing a staggering 69% of his passes and is averaging 289 yards per game. He is currently on the longest streak of his career without having thrown an interception, having thrown 19 touchdowns to 0 interceptions during the Packers' 7-game winning streak.

Dallas did not get to 13-3 for no reason. They are an outstanding team that has only lost once at home this season.  They beat up on Green Bay at Lambda Field earlier this season. However, that was a different Green Bay, and can the Cowboys really keep pace with Rodgers in this sort of vintage form? The Cowboys do not have anywhere near as good a defence as the Giants and must be worried about having to get into a shoot-out with the biggest gun slinger in the game. The Cowboys will be at home in front of 100,000 fans, however if Rodgers can throw for 360 in the frigid, icy conditions of Green Bay, what sort of numbers can he put up in an indoor dome with a dry ball?

Green Bay were my pick for the Super Bowl in the pre-season because I thought Rodgers was in the absolute prime of his career. For much of the first ten weeks, Rodgers looked like a different player, as he struggled for combinations and timing and his team's defence seemed to wave the white flag. However Jordy Nelson's return to form has coincided with Green Bay and Rodgers going on one of these volcanic type winning runs that can carry this team all the way to the Super Bowl. This season is panning out is eerily similar way to Rodgers first Super Bowl season. Look out Dallas.
