NRL Round 25 Preview - Titans v Cowboys @ CBUS Super Stadium

Gold Coast Titans v North Queensland Cowboys @ CBUS Super Stadium

Preview – It’s a Queensland derby to finish the regular season as the Titans host the Cowboys at CBUS Super Stadium on Saturday night. A sell-out crowd will be on hand for Johnathon Thurston’s final game, as the Cowboys can jump the Titans on the ladder with a victory in this game. The Titans put in their best defensive performance of the season last week, however went down 10-8 to the Storm in a game where they defended their goal line with more conviction and desperation than they have all season. The Cowboys have managed good form of late, in what’s been a desperately disappointing season, as they pummelled the Eels 44-6 in Townsville.

Gold Coast Titans’ Scouting Report - Garth Brennan has named an unchanged side from the one that competed bravely in going down narrowly to the Storm last week.

North Queensland Cowboys’ Scouting Report - Somewhat surprisingly, Te Maire Martin  returns at five-eight in place of youngster Jake Clifford who has been really strong for the Cowboys in the past few weeks. Shaun Fensom replaces Francis Molo on the bench.

Verdict - Cowboys by 10-20 in a high scoring game

I think all the momentum is with the Cowboys here to have another big victory to finish off the season. The Titans threw everything into that game last weekend, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they come into this game with more bumps and bruises. Also, I am expecting the Cowboys to lift one final time for their champion Thurston. The Cowboys have been awful this season, but their forwards have dominated in the past few wins, and they have injected a bit more speed and youth into their side and look far better for it, even with their season long since gone. Expecting a high scoring game, but the Cowboys to win comfortably.
