NRL Round 20 Preview - Broncos v Sharks @ Suncorp Stadium

Brisbane Broncos v Cronulla Sharks @ Suncorp Stadium

Preview – It’s a Thursday night blockbuster as the Broncos take on the Sharks at Suncorp Stadium. The home side in 7th place can go level with the 4th placed Sharks on 26 points with a victory in this crucial match up. Brisbane were scintillating last week, crushing the Panthers 50-18 in perhaps their best performance of the season. The Sharks did enough in the first half to hold off a fast finishing Raiders outfit 28-24, in a match where a few crucial calls went their way.

Brisbane Broncos’ Scouting Report - Wayne Bennett has named the same 17, with Matthew Lodge back in the starting side.  Jamayne Isaako looks to be the fullback for the rest of the season with Darius Boyd remaining at centre.

Cronulla Sharks’ Scouting Report - Cronulla will be sweating on the fitness of Wade Graham who will be given until an hour before kickoff to prove his fitness. They do welcome back veteran Luke Lewis from a calf injury, which pushes Scott Sorensen to the bench. Valentine Holmes continued his brilliant form last week with another try, as he has well and truly cemented his spot at fullback in this side for the rest of the season.

Verdict - Broncos 1-6 in a high quality game

Going to go with the Broncos given they have an excellent record against the Sharks. They have already beaten them this year 22-16 at Shark Park, and I think, given their performance last week, they should be brimming with confidence. The Sharks won't fold nearly as easily as Penrith defensively, so expect the Broncos to be under far more physical pressure in this game, but I think they can sneak home given the importance of the game for them.
