NRL Round 14 Preview - Eels v Cowboys @ TIO Stadium

Parramatta Eels v North Queensland Cowboys @ TIO Stadium Darwin

Preview - The Eels take a home game to Darwin as they look for just their third win of the season against the Cowboys at TIO Stadium on Saturday night. The Eels were embarrassing last week, as their horror season slumped to new lows in a 30-4 loss to the Knights at ANZ Stadium. The Cowboys broke through for just their 4th win of the season, with a 26-12 victory over Manly at Lottoland, to keep their slim finals’ hopes alive.

Parramatta Eels’ Scouting Report - The Eels welcome back some big names, with Jarryd Hayne returning from a long term hip injury at centre, and Brad Takairangi replacing the suspended Tepai Moeroa in the second row. Corey Norman returns at halfback for Mitch Moses, who is out through injury. Nathan Brown starts at lock, switching Peni Terepo to prop and David Gower to the bench. Captain Tim Mannah  returns to replace Suai Matagi on the bench.

North Queensland Cowboys’  Scouting Report - Michael Morgan, Gavin Cooper and Coen Hess have all been named to back up from Origin. Matt Scott returns to start at prop, whilst last week's second-row pair Shaun Fensom and Ethan Lowe drop to the bench.

Verdict - Cowboys 13+

I reckon the Cowboys might put a score on the Eels here. Parramatta are a complete mess right now and, despite getting a couple of players back from injury, they appear to be a side without any confidence or morale at the moment. The Cowboys finally showed signs of life in attack last week, scoring 26 points and, whilst their finals hopes are flickering, I expect them to be desperate and have too much quality for the Eels.
