NRL Round 11 Preview - Cowboys v Rabbitohs @ 1300 Smiles Stadium

North Queensland Cowboys v South Sydney Rabbitohs @ 1300 Smiles Stadium

Preview - The Cowboys desperately need a victory as they host the surging Rabbitohs at 1300 Smiles Stadium on Saturday night. The Cowboys are now 3-7 after slumping to another disappointing 20-12 loss against the Tigers last weekend. Coming into the season as equal premiership favourites, the Cowboys are now in very real danger of falling out of finals contention if they can’t string a couple of wins together. Souths made it 6 wins from their last 8 with a real statement victory over the Dragons, winning comfortably 24-10 in a game they dominated throughout.

North Queensland Cowboys Scouting Report - Despite threatening to swing the axe, Paul Green has named the same side which was disappointing once again against the Tigers last week. Shaun Fenson has been named despite dislocating his elbow last week, and would  have to be in some doubt.

South Sydney Rabbithos’ Scouting Report - No surprise that Anthony Seibold has named an unchanged side from the one that ambushed the competition leading Dragons last week. Angus Crichton has hadoutstanding games the past two weeks after a slow start to the season.

Verdict - Souths by 13+

I have to go with the hot hand here in the Rabbitohs, despite the fact the Cowboys will be desperate and back at home. I just think Souths are one of the fastest and most powerful teams in the competitionm whilst the Cowboys are one of the slowest and the most predictable in attack. I can’t see the Cowboys’ attack posing anywhere near the amount of threat Souths can, so provided Souths turn up with their tackling boots as they did against the Dragons, I see them winning this game comfortably and really confirming themselves as a Top 4 and Premiership contender in 2018.
