NRL Round 6 Preview - Dragons v Sharks @ Jubilee Stadium

St. George Illawarra Dragons v Cronulla Sharks @ Jubilee Stadium

Preview - The Dragons and Sharks clash for the second time this season with the hosts looking for a 6th win straight in 2018 on Friday night at Jubilee Stadium. The Dragons held off a resilient Rabbitohs last week 16-12, to remain at the top of the NRL table in 2018, and are sure to have a sell out crowd behind them as they try to beat they fiercest rivals for the second time this season. The Sharks put in an ordinary performance in front of their home fans, losing 28-10 to the Roosters to slip to 2/3 with the side having managed just 9 tries from five games this season.

St. George Illawarra Dragons’ Scouting Report - The only change for the Dragons is on the bench, with Luciano Leilua dropping out, and with Hame Sele coming on to the bench. The Dragons’ forwards of Vaughn, Frizzel and De Belin will be looking to further push their Origin chances with another big performance against their bitter rivals.

Cronulla Sharks’ Scouting Report - Sharks Coach Shane Flanagan has opted to keep Matt Moylan at fullback ahead of Josh Dugan (groin), who returns at centre in place of Jesse Ramien. Sosaia Feki is replaced on the wing by Edrick Lee. James Segeyaro (concussion) misses out with prop Kurt Dillon added to the interchange.

Verdict - Dragons by 1-8 in a low scoring game

I think this will be a typical Dragons and Sharks game in that it will be intense and physical and low scoring, with not a lot separating the two sides. I’m tempted to tip the Sharks here as they had a tendency over the past 12 months to play better on the road, and they won at Jubilee Stadium last season. However, for me, their attack is just not clicking at the moment, and I think the Dragons will want to put down a real marker by doing the double over their big rivals and going to 6-0. I expect 18 points to be about enough to win this game, and I see the Dragons winning by 4-6 points similar to their game last week.
