Preview - The Hobart Hurricanes will be searching for back-to-back victories when they host the undefeated Adelaide Strikers at Blundstone Arena tonight. The Hurricanes broke through for a first victory in three attempts with a narrow 11-run victory over the Thunder at Spotless Stadium, where their batting finally clicked into gear with a score of 189. The Strikers look like one of the sides to beat this season, with three straight victories, including two thumping wins over the Thunder and Heat.
Big Batting Battle - D'Arcy Short v Colin Ingram - D'Arcy Short put his name up in lights in his last game with a blazing 97 from just 63 balls, with nine 4’s and four 6’s. Short is a very clean striker of the ball and, when at his best like at Spotless Stadium, can making batting look effortless, but what the Hurricanes will be after is a bit more consistency. Colin Ingram is an overseas import who is yet to fire this year, so be will be desperate to put in a performance for the Strikers here. Ingram has made starts in all three games, so will be looking to go on with it tonight against a Hurricanes’ attack that can struggle at times.
Big Bowling Battle - Cameron Boyce v Ben Laughlin - Not exactly a match up here, with a leg spinner up against a seamer, however both Boyce and Laughlin were outstanding in their most recent outing. Boyce brought his side back from the brink taking 2/14 from his four overs against a rampant Thunder batting outfit that looked on track to run down the Hurricanes score of 189. Laughlin remains one of the top few seamers in the BBL, having taken 9 wickets in his three games, at an average of 8 and an economy rate of 7.
Ground Dynamic - Blundstone Arena - The Hurricanes return to their traditional home base, after taking a game to Launceston for their home game against the Thunder. Blundstone is usually a great batting track with a very short square boundary, so I expect both batting sides to try and target that short boundary and look for a score of around 180 when batting first.
THE PROPHET'S PICK (9-7) - Adelaide Strikers - "I am straight off the Cane train after getting my win out of them for the season."
